  • LUCHEN Diamond of Dynamics

    2023, Jinhua, Zhejiang

In this thesis, Lu created a framework called Lu Chen Diamond of Dynamics. It is a model that contains seven factors, in which they are interplayed in a diamond chain within a dynamic mode. By using Gestalt Theory, McLuhan’s Medium Theory and Einfühlung Theory, the model analyzes the relationship between art form, people, industry, manufacture and culture. It also explains the why significant success of global can happen in visual arts and multimedia and how we use it to predict the next success. It can also guide where is the problem if it fails to be successful globally or why it only happened localized. Due to the limited pages, I only picked up 3 factors of it to talk about how the diamond works and how each factor interactive with the others. For more complex analyzing of their relationships in the entire diamond, it will be researched later in my doctoral program.

  • Lu Released His Website at First Time

Lu Chen, a third year of graduate visual effects student at Savannah College of Art and Design, has achieved a major milestone - building his very first website from scratch. What makes this accomplishment all the more impressive is that Chen designed and coded the entire site by himself, with no prior experience in web development.

Chen had long dreamed of creating his own website, but never had the opportunity to learn the necessary skills until taking an introductory web design course this semester. "I've always been interested in visual effects and interaction design, so building a website seemed like the perfect way to explore those interests," Chen said.

Over the past month, Chen taught himself HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to bring his design concepts to life online. He implemented complex animations, transitions, and hover effects using advanced CSS techniques. JavaScript was used to add interactivity, like dropdown menus and form validations.

The finished site, which Chen designed as a personal portfolio to showcase his work, is a stunning demonstration of his new coding abilities. Clean, minimalist design is elevated by subtle animations and highly responsive features tailored for desktop and mobile viewing.

Faculty members were impressed not only with the technical proficiency shown for a first-time project, but also the site's unique visual style. At just XX years old, Lu is already pushing the boundaries of what's possible through self-directed learning and creative problem-solving. His natural talents and strong work ethic position him well for a future career in digital media.
